Good afternoon y'all. I wasn't sure that I how much I had been on IG this week, but it was a good week, so I want to share!

This week has been just a bit of randomness of my life. So here it goes.

1. I found my new favorite drink. Chai Tea from Panera Bread! Yep, I will say it, Starbucks Chai Tea isn't my favorite.

2. I got a letter from J's sister Erika with pictures of her lovely boys! This was such a surprise and I loved to see how handsome the boys are!

3. I found my first pair of point shoes one night last week. It took me for a pleasant trip down memory lane.

4. I bought my winter candle. I am loving the smell of the candle. Great smell that is light and not overbearing!

5. J came to visit this weekend, but he was so tired he was in bed by 10:30pm {he usually stays up until about 2am}

PS I'm loving that I have my regular computer back and I am able to make cool collages with my photoshop again!

Nail Polish, Make up and Candles... Oh My!

Let's see... I have been working on this post for about 3 days now. It started off as a way to keep myself occupied as J drove up for the weekend, then a way to keep quiet while he was still sleeping in bed... So now I will just get on with it and post the darn thing already.

Without further ado, my first obsession...

Nail polish...
I have a ton of nail polishes but I've found that nothing is more exciting than trying on a new polish color. I don't know exactly what it is. I usually have very bright nails. And I mean like neon colors. But lately I've been wanting to go into neutrals and not so bright colors. I think that when Black Friday rolls around I might look into some sale polish colors?!

This is my current color... Soft Sienna Silks by China Glaze. What do y'all thing?

Sorry the picture isn't the best. My camera and I are having disagreements on focusing and it's the best I could do at the moment.

Make up & tutorials...

Now that I have a very neat and organized make up drawer in my bathroom I have gotten into doing my make up and wanting to find out more way to do makeup! I have found this channel on youtube of a girl named Ingrid or Missglamorazzi (click on the link and check her out) that blogs videos about anything beauty and fashion. I really love her style. My only complaint is that I don't spend the money for the kind of make up she uses so I have to find similar colors, types or dupes of whatever she is doing.

Do y'all watch any beauty channels? Please share them with me!!!

And finally my latest and biggest obsession is....

Bath and Body Works seasonal candles...

I have recently discovered that B&BW has candles that smell awesome! I generally tend not to go into their store because I am not fond of lotion -- cue dry skin! But I walked past there in the fall and saw this huge display of candles. J was like "Hey lets go check it out!"... I sure didn't disagree.

Into the store we went and so my obsession began. I got the Farmstand Apples by Slatkin & Co. for the fall. No lie, if you have ever smelt apples from an apple tree, like the kind people grow in their yards.. this candle is an exact replica. Or at least to my noes it is. It brings back such good memories of my childhood and having apple trees in our front yard. Going to collect the apples and making homemade grated apple pie. yummmy!

I honestly love this Slatkin & Co candle because no matter where I burn the candle, the whole house smells like fresh picked apples. And we aren't talking about a small house either. I can be burning it in my bedroom and my mom will ask from the living room (on the far end of the house) if I have my candle burning. Very well made candle, y'all.

My next candle that I fell in love with is.... White Barn No. 2 Chestnut and Clove by White Barn candles. I had a very hard time deciding between this candle and 'Tis the Season by Slatkin & Co. I was a little leery about trying out this new brand, but I loved the smell and asked one of the employees if the scent would waft throughout the house. {Side note: I didn't actually say waft, that's just the chemist in me.} Anyway, so my decision was made. I got the White Barn No. 2, I was afraid the slight hint of cinnamon in the 'Tis the Season would be overpowering since I knew how strong that brand of candle is.

I had a spend $30 and get $10 off, so I actually got 2 of the 14.5 oz 3 wick candles. White Barn and Evergreen. In my family we don't get live trees because we like to leave the lights on as a source of light and we think it is a good thing to not catch the tree of fire and burn the house down. So fake we have, but we have been looking for a way to make the living room and dining room {we have 2 trees} smell like a live tree. I think we have found the ticket with this candle. It smells like a real tree plus I know it will make the whole house smell.

I will stop talking about candles now... Can you tell I'm obsessed?!

Sunday Social: Thankful Edition

Sunday, November 18, 2012

Link up with Ashley and Neely so we can all see what you are thankful for!

What I am thankful for...

My parents
I am grateful for my parents. They have always been there for me no matter what. They taught and raised me to be the sweet, polite person I am today and I can't thank them enough.

I am thankful to have this man in my life. He has brought me so much happiness and I don't know what I could do without him. He is my ray of light when I feel like I am in an eternal night, my spark of laughter when all hope is gone. He is the piece that completes me.
Adventures {Angel Oak Tree, Charleston, South Carolina}
I am so appreciative that I have gotten the chance to take adventures. I have this wanderlust that is slowly being satisfied.

I am glad I have my loving boy in my life. He was my lap down when he was a puppy and slowly outgrew his calling. He is my sweet boy and I'm not sure what I would do without him.

I am very thankful for my baby girl. She is my running partner, my cheerful pal and my "always want a belly rub" baby girl.

New friends

I am very thankful at how I have made new friends that are willing to accept me for who I am.

New Family

I am thankful for new family that I have gained through J. They have welcomed me as part of the family and treated me like they've known me since I was in diapers. I am very grateful for them!

November facts: Weekend edition

Saturday, November 17, 2012

J is coming up this weekend and I know that I am not going to want to be on the computer any of the time he is here... soo for that I am just going to do a whole weekend edition so I don't have to get behind.

Day 17: What is the thing you most wish you were great at?

Not getting overwhelmed. I feel like this is kinda silly, but when I have a lot of things on my plate, have a lot of people around talking at the same time, or have a large group I have to talk to I seem to get overwhelmed. I would like to be able to just take a breath and be able to overcome it all.

Day 18: What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?

The break up between my first love and I. This was a very difficult time and we were both to blame, though I didn't see it at the time. It took me 2 years to forgive myself for this.

Day 19: If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

Ok so my first instinct is to say some place tropical because who doesn't love the beach?! But in reality, at this moment if I could just pack up and move and live anywhere, it would be Charleston, SC because I would be with J.

Come back on Tuesday for Day 20 and my 3 significant childhood memories.

Get to Know me November: Day 16

Friday, November 16, 2012

To take a look at all of the questions for the month, check it out here.

Day 16: What are your 5 greatest accomplishments?

1. Graduating college with 2 bachelor's degrees
2. Being an Ambassador (tour guide) for my school
3. Becoming a brother of Alpha Chi Sigma (chemistry fraternity)
4. Learning to craft
5. Cleaning the house and actually thinking it isn't too bad

I feel like these aren't "great". I mean they are ok, but in the grand scheme of things, I have so many bigger plans for my life that I don't feel like I've done that many great things yet.

Anyway, come back tomorrow to see what I wish I was most great at...

Get To Know Me November: Day 15

Thursday, November 15, 2012

To take a look at all of the questions for the month, check it out here.

Day 15: If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?

I would be a hummingbird. I've had a small fascination with them since Pocahontas. But they are so small and dainty .. who couldn't love them?

 Isn't it pretty?!

Come back tomorrow and see my 5 greatest accomplishments thus far...

Catch Up

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I've been slacking about posting my facts about myself for November... So here is what I missed...

Day 11: Describe 10 pet peeves you have.

1. Chewing with your mouth open: the sounds they just make my skin craw
2. Turning the music/tv up too loud: I feel like I'm deaf, it's just sooo loud
3. People who don't take social ques very well: it makes me feel very awkward and just don't know what to do
4. When people ask me to repeat myself many times: I get so angry at this, even if they really can't hear me it makes me mad and just give up with whatever I was saying
5. Waiting to get gas until the light comes on: it almost gives me a heart attack when J does that
6. When your socks get stretched out: I hate when I try to put my shoes on and my socks get all bunched up at my heel
7. Standing around when people argue: this isn't exactly a pet peeve, but it gives me anxiety to hear people argue, so I don't like it

I know I'm supposed to have a few more, but I can't think of any at the moment

Day 12: Describe a typical day in your current life.

My day is pretty boring so try not to fall asleep while reading this. I get up and do an Insanity workout. Depending on the day I go to a cake decoring class, I work on some kind of craft (crocheting, cross stitching, ect), play with my dogs, apply for jobs if any are available, go for a walk, eat dinner and do more crafting.

Day 13: Describe 5 weaknesses you have.

I let people opinions of me affect me
I hate being wrong/not good enough
I over think everything
I don't have a lot of will power
I am a very cautious person

Day 14 Describe 5 strengths you have.

I am a very passionate person
I am very cautious (I consider it a strength and weakness)
I am easy going – it takes a lot to get me angry
I listen very well
I like to do everything right and "perfect"

Hopefully I will be better about posting them daily! Sorry y'all!

Was that MY Wilton Cake?!

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

As y'all know I'm in a Wilton Cake decorating class. Last week we learned about icing types and played around with one specific tip.

The second class was quite a night! I worked really hard making my cake. I used these wet bake even strips and it was a little difficult to get in the oven with them staying on. Then I tried this new technique of baking the cake. Turns out I put it on the wrong temperature, so it took longer to bake the cake.

But I eventually got it all baked and it looked pretty good. I get to Michael's and was pulling all of my equipment out of the car. The cake was the last thing I picked up and as I was shutting the car door, my cake toater decided that it wasn't going to hold the cake anymore. The bottom came undone from the top and my beautiful cake went onto the Michael's parking lot... and my car tire. Yep. My cake on in the parking lot.

Let the waterworks begin...

Ok. Now that I've had a 10 minute conversation with my dad about my cake falling out onto the ground, I go into the classroom and one of the ladies gives me half of hers. She was so sweet. She was also the one that nicknamed me Wilma. I went to the bathroom and dried my eyes and got my stuff and proceeded to decorate my beautiful cake. Well, her beautiful cake.

We used the same bags for our icing so I got a bit of a tie-dye effect with my icing, but for practice I don't think it matters.

Next week we will be decorating beautiful cupcakes with mum flowers. Hopefully I don't drop those!

5 for Five

Monday, November 12, 2012

So as for this week...

1. Blog about my Wilton Cake Decorating class
I did it!! See it here!

2. Get a notebook for ideas for crafts and blog postsI got the notebook, but I wanted to decorate it and make it very pretty. But that didn't happen. So I'm giving this a yellow for the week.
3. Clean up/organize my bathroom
This was like a 3 thumbs up green. I think it looks wonderful. I've even got pictures to prove how messy it was and how not messy it is now!

Pretty mess huh?!

A little better, right?!

4. Make a <growing> shopping list for Christmas
I got a few things I want to get for my mom, and a few friends, but I couldn't think of hardly anything for my dad... and I didn't write any of it down.

5. Keep up with Insanity
I didn't lose as much weight as last week, but as long as I'm feeling better, I don't exactly care.

3.5/5 isn't too bad. Maybe this coming week will be better.

So this week's goals are...

1.  Blog about Week 2 of my Cake decorating class
This week we are decorating a cake with a picture of a cupcake. Kind of weird thing to be decorating a cake with, but I want to give you the low down on this week's fun times.

2. Actually make the Christmas shopping list!
Yep, this didn't get written down last week, so I am actually going to do it this week.

3. Get some materials and make my blog notebook pretty then write a few crafting ideas in it.
I have had a few ideas of things I wanted to do, so now it's just writing them down and actually doing it!

4. Pull out and put away all of my winter sweaters.
I have almost 0 extra room in my closet/dresser drawers, so I need to swap out winter and summer things. I have a pile of winter clothes in my floor now and need to find them a home for the winter so they don't stay there permenantly.

5. Make an effort to talk to my friends who don't live close by.
My best friend from high school lives about 3 hours away from me and my best friend from college just moved 20 hours away to Kansas. Sooo. I don't want to lose either of their friendships so I am going to try to make an effort.

Hopefully this week will turn out a little better.

The Stew from Brunswick.

Sunday, November 11, 2012

Brunswick Stew is a big thing in my family. We have made a batch every year for as long as I can remember. Nothing is better than a warm bowl of Brunswick stew and a grilled cheese!

My extended family had a stew and a get together last night that was so much fun. I was one of the youngest people there but it was so much fun to hang out and watch people get kinda drunk! I had some fun drinking my boxed margarita mix as well.

My cousins have the coolest back yard/patio too. They had an amazing Tiki bar. They made it themselves from bamboo they cut down themselves.

They also kept it really classy and used an old hula hoop to hold the lights!

We all ate some stew [that was really yummy!] and had a really great time just hanging out by the fire and I even made some new friends!

Meet my new frinds... Molly May and Tommy

Does your family have any traditional get togethers like ours?  Have you even heard of Brunswick stew?

Get To Know Me November Day 10

Saturday, November 10, 2012

To take a look at all of the questions for the month, check it out here.

Day 10: What is your most embarrassing moment?

My most embarrassing moment has been told over and over again. I was a tour guide at my college and was giving a tour in the rain. I was walking backwards on the sidewalk answering a question. Coming up behind me was a knee level brick wall that I didn't see because I was walking backwards. Before anybody on my tour could say anything I had fallen on the brick wall and got the whole back of my pants wet. I had to walk the other half of the tour with wet pants.

Come back tomorrow to find out my 10 pet peeves...

Get To Know Me November Day 9

Friday, November 9, 2012

To take a look at all of the questions for the month, check it out here.

Day 9: What sounds do you love?

I love the sound of the birds chirping in the winter because I know that spring is on its way. The sound of the wind blowing through the car when the convertible top is now (and some good music on in the background), I love the sound of crickets on a warm summer night where you can see the lightening bugs all across the field, and I especially love the sound J's car makes when it pulls up into the driveway because it means he is home with me for even just a little bit.

Come back tomorrow to find out about my most embarrassing moment.
