Wilton what?!

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

I don't know about y'all, but when my birthday rolls around I love to have a beautiful cake, even if I don't really celebrate it all out.

This week I went for my first Wilton cake decorating class. Let me tell you I think this class is going to be a hoot. Yes, a hoot. I am the second youngest girl in there, but these ladies are funny! I wore my lovely zebra apron and zebra shoes so I got nicknamed Wilma like from The Flinstones. I will try to get a picture of me in my lovely Wilma outfit! : )

This week we were learning the really basic stuff: different types of icing. Who knew there were different types, but there are. Icing can be stiff, medium and thin. Once we took our stiff icing (which was like play-doe) and made it into medium icing, we started to play around with the lovely star. That was fun but I had already learned that from playing around with some cake decorating at home. It was pretty neat to get a good technique going though.

Next week we will be learning about icing our cake and decorating with images. We will be making a cupcake design on our cakes! I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out and share it with y'all! So be on the lookout for that fun post next week!
