Wedding Bells are Ringing... Woah! Hold that Thought!

As many of you may know, I've started this new chapter in my life. The chapter that begins all of the happy memories of not walking alone in life, but having a partner. Somebody who is by your side through thick and thin. Somebody who understands you and can tell you exactly what they are thinking with just a smile. Although my new chapter had a bumpy start (read about it here), I'm glad I've opened it.

From there the wedding planning began in a whirl wind! We already knew the ONLY place in Charleston we would consider having the wedding would be the Old Wide Awake Plantation.

We wanted a wedding that was true to us as a couple and as individuals. J being raised in Alabama, he is a true Southerner, I'm from Virginia, but consider myself a Southern Belle. I wanted the feeling of being welcomed yet laid back, while still having true Southern grace. This was just the perfect place to have it!

A little more planning went on. We knew we wanted J to wear his Air Force blues so we chose the colors to be coral and navy. I also knew I wanted the flowers my favorite flower... daisies. I decided I wanted to keep it kind of simple so I came up with bouquets and centerpieces similar to this

After getting quite a bit planned out and even going to try on dresses... I talked to my mom and she wanted us to wait and live together... [groan] So the big day shall be June 15, 2015 {as of now, that could change, you know}

So now instead of planning the wedding, I'm looking for apartments for J and I... not exactly what I had planned... but as long as I'm with him I really don't care. It isn't going to feel real living together... But I can't wait. It will truly be like a sleep over every night. This is a cute little apartment complex we found 5 miles away from the base. It's super cute inside, allows pets and even has a gym in the complex! SCORE!

So that's my update for now. As always thanks for following this crazy life of mine.

  1. Good luck with apartment hunting... I know how much of a pain that could be. As long as you are happy with your decision, then go for it. I didn't live with my husband till we got married (my parents were old school and wouldn't budge on that) but sometimes I do wish that we lived together before. But both situations have it's pro and cons. And that plantation looks beautiful!

  2. Good luck!! My husband and I didn't live together before we got married and I honestly think it was better.

  3. Good luck searching for an apartment! I'm sure you will have a blast living with your SO for the first time! :) Mr and I lived together, but with other people, so we didn't live together just us until we were married. It was just as wonderful as I thought it would be! :) Best of luck!

  4. I didn't know you guys got engaged! That's funny, my mom has the exact opposite philosophy. She said she wouldn't pay for a wedding if we lived with someone before we got married to them. It's interesting how people can think so differently! Good luck to you both!
