The Snowball Effect of #40milesinNovember

I'm so proud of myself this month. I had set my mind to walking/jogging 40 miles and I actually got over 50 miles. Althought I've kind of sucked at actually documenting #40milesinNovember, my Nike luckily counted most of it for me (except for the few days Nike was down).


This running stuff kind of snowballed for me. I found this pretty cool podcast called Podrunner that had this 3 week series called Begintervals where you walk 4 minutes and run 1 minute and went through that three different times. Each week the beat of the music was faster so you took a faster pace.

After getting back into running, I heard about their First day to 5k program. I hopped over to their website and downloaded those. I started the first week of that program Monday. It's a little different from the Begintervals, but I'm really excited to do the 9 week program and jog a full 5k.

And since I've been doing all of this jogging, I already made a new years goal for my fitness. My 2014 goal is to train for and run jog a half marathon. I want to do it in the fall of 2014 to give myself time to work up to being able to jog that distance because lets be real, I'm lucky if I can jog longer than a mile currently. I told you, starting off this #40milesinNovember has snowballed... Now I'm wanting to do a half marathon in fall 2014. Who knew?

I've roped John into doing the half marathon with me. We are going to start training together when the new year gets here. I'm pretty excited about this. Plus it's something that John and I can do together all while we stay in shape.

  2. Wow! Way to go with your goal! I'm a little asthmatic, so I've never been able to get into running, but I admire everyone who does. Such a healthy way to live!
