The Weekend that Took Me All Week to Write About!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Okay, so I haven't really been trying to write about it all week, but I've figured out my problem of why I don't update a whole lot.... I don't get on my computer many days. Maybe 2 days out of the week I actually pick up my computer. Anyway...

Last weekend was very very busy.

Friday night I trucked to Tupelo, Mississippi to see Kip Moore and Brantley Gilbert. I have to say that I wasn't their biggest fan, but I did enjoy the concert! I didn't know too many of the songs, but I still had a great time!

Saturday night, J's brother, Ron and his gf and I went out the the local fair. It was a lot of fun. We rode quite a few rides including the scrambler and the swings and one that spins around and around and plasters you to your seat. We also did the slide, kinda me unwilling, but I did it. I was a little afraid because it was really really high. When we got up there, Ron pushed me down...

Super tall slide

Sunday we trucked (or school bused) down to Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama beat LSU!! It was really fun. It was kids day as well. So J's nephews went down on the field and ran the bases after the games and we got some of the players to sign baseballs and big posters. It was really fun to meet them.

Overall it was a pretty amazing weekend. Tomorrow J is coming in and staying until Monday! I'm very excited about that...except we will be re-roofing a house most of the weekend. :( Oh well, at least I will be with him.

It's OK! I'm really excited!

It's OK...

that in my workout yesterday I skipped the jumping jacks... :(

that the hills around the house kill my running

that those hills make my legs stronger... I hope

because I'm going to see Brantley Gilbert and Kip Moore tomorrow!

that I'm more than excited to be seeing Brantley Gilbert and Kip Moore!!!

that I will take my second venture into Mississippi for the concert tomorrow.

that it has taken forever to start subbing

my computer charger only sometimes gets power. It's OK charger... I don't want to blog or get online or anything.

that I catch up on all of my shows during the week because I'm not used to having to watch them an hour earlier

that I love on John's dog Little Bit and try to get her to like me more than him

that I have a countdown to my wedding and it's 420 some odd days away!

that I also count down until John comes back home... 8 days from now.

BUT one last thing that I'm not OK with is the fact that the darn bugs have started biting already!!!

OK! That's it.

Slacker!

Tuesday, April 16, 2013

That is truly what I've been! I haven't wrote any letters, updated my blog.... done anything.

But I have been working to become less of a slacker. It has been quite a journey but I am almost a substitute teacher in the great state of Alabama.

Let me tell you I didn't think it would take this long. I had to get a TB test done, wait for my Social Security card to come because I left the original at home. And now wait for my fingerprints to come back okay and get my certificate number. This has been a 2 week wait in order to substitute teach. But the wait is almost over. Hopefully Thursday or Friday I will be able to sub my first class.

In other news, I survived my first Alabama tornado... it didn't get too close but we were in its path. Luckily it got too big to do damage to us. We had some pretty harsh winds and thunder and lightening. It shook my bedroom windows!

J and I also celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We got to celebrate it and our engagement with our favorite bottle of wine. His family doesn't really drink so they were calling us alcoholics, but it's okay. We were enjoying ourselves. We wrote the event on the cork to save and saved the bottle to flatten for a bar cutting board. There is a place in Tuscaloosa that flattens bottles that you bring in. I'm so excited.

We take kinda bad pictures with the front camera, but I don't really care. I just love getting to see him! He will come down again on the 26th! Just a few more days!

I will try to be more active on my blog! I don't want to just leave it hanging!

Have a fabulous day!

The Beginning of the Happiest Day of my Life

Monday, April 1, 2013

J proposed last week, March 26 ! I'm such a happy girl.

J, his brother, Em and her kids all came up on Monday. On Tuesday we had planned a picnic at my campus, but when we got there is was overcast, cold and starting to spit rain. So we ended up just walking around campus reminiscing.

We walked up to one of the fountains of campus and was taking pictures and J stopped me and asked me how much I loved him. I gave him a very funny look because of course I love him with all my heart, but at the time all that I could get out was "a lot". So he said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and asked if I wanted the same thing. By this point I kinda knew what was going on. He eventually gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring box with the beautiful ring that I loved so much.

I was so astonished. And happy and words can't even describe. But then Em said her camera card was full when it was happening so we had to do a rerun and John got down on one knee again and did it all over again.

We are very excited. There was some other negativity surrounding the engagement, but right now I don't really want to focus on that.

J and I have talked about it and have set a tentative date of June 15, 2014.
