First Day of College Classes: Love/Hate Relationship

Monday, August 18, 2014

College classes are about to start! Can you believe it? I surely can't. I don't know where the past 2 years have gone. I feel like I should be getting ready to go back to school. The beginning of a new semester was always full of emotions for me. Y'all might have some of the same love/hate relationships about college starting as well!

LOVE: I absolutely loved getting ready for the new semester. I was one of those college students who liked to get a new outfit as well as all of my actual study materials. Oh, and don't even get me started on notebooks, pens, pencils, note cards, lab notebooks, ect. It was like Christmas. I loved the look of a fresh planner just waiting to be filled up with those dreadful assignments.

HATE: The first day of class jitters. I could never sleep the night before my first day of classes. My brain was in overdrive wondering what the professor would be like, who was going to be in my class and better yet, who would be my lab partner. No sleep plus trying to function the next day, it is a curious combination.

LOVE: I couldn't wait for classes to start again so I could see my friends again. Some of our best moments were while we were goofing off studying in the library. We actually got a lot done, by the way.

HATE: Having the syllabus handed to you and within the first glance, you can tell this semester is going to be a doozy. I hated the let down that the class you thought might be easy, really isn't going to be that easy.

And to end on a positive note...

LOVE: The feeling that you are going to do well at all of your classes. Sitting in Java City, smelling that wonderful brew, just knowing it's going to be a good semester and you will succeed. Nobody else did that? Just me... okay, I always was one to think positively.

What do you LOVE or HATE about the first days of classes?

  1. I have these emotions every time a new class starts for me haha.

  2. The syllabus always made the class look so daunting at first. I miss studying in coffee shops. I was always more productive when I studied in public. Like everyone would judge or shame me if I wasn't productive.
