If We Were Having Lattes...
Thursday, August 21, 2014
Some of my favorite moments when I was at Longwood was meeting up with a friend at Java City, the coffee shop on campus, sitting there sipping Chai latte and catching up with her. Even though we lived in the same apartment building, my life as a bio/chem major and hers as a psychology major were pretty hectic to say the least.
So after toying with the idea of a "If we were having lattes" and seeing Elizabeth do it, today I'm going to pretend that I'm sitting in Java City and chat about what's been going on in my life.
I'd first ask you about what was going on in your life. I always love catching up with all of my friends. I'd ask you about your significant other and how things were going for them and you at work and just random stuff. You know how all the catching up goes.
Then of course, you'd ask me how life was going. I'd take a sip of my Chai and tell you that life has been pretty crazy lately. I was scheduled for 5 days at work this week, normal for everybody who works full time, I know. I was also trained for another part of the store. Hopefully you wouldn't roll your eyes at my 5 days of work comment.
But then I would get really excited and tell you how I took a painting class this past Sunday. I would tell you that it's still a work in progress and not to judge me. I'm still a little self-conscious about my painting skills. So as long as you promise not to judge, I'd show you the picture of my almost complete painting.
I'd also happily tell you that I'm going to the Air Force ball again this year and I've found the perfect dress. It is a little bit more flashy than my dresses in previous years, but I think it's going to be amazing! I'd then pull up the picture and show you the dress.
And of course because we are friends and having lattes together, the conversation would inevitably go towards our latest favorite TV shows and books. We would probably talk about some Netflix shows that we've been watching and I would tell you that you just have to check out The Last Ship! I finally caught up on it this past week and it is amazing! Knowing me and my love for "the world is ending" type of shows like Jericho, you'd probably slightly roll your eyes at me, but maybe even agree that it sounded amazing.
After sitting in Java City through probably two waves of class exchanges, we would probably agree it was time to get out of there but make a promise to do this more often.
What would you tell me over lattes? Come meet me again for lattes and a good chat!
