For the past two years, wine has been my alcoholic drink of choice. I love the sweet taste especially combined with a excellent homemade meal.

When I was young, my family made homemade grape and plum wine. My 9 year old self thought it was the coolest thing ever getting to stomp on the grapes in my gloved feet. Ever since then, I've wanted to make my own wine.

Luckily, this year was a great year for my grandparents apple trees. You see where this is going... My family collected over 15 gallons worth of apples off the trees. Picking the apples was a whole family affair and we had a blast. But with 15 gallons of apples, we had them running out of our ears. We've enjoyed apple pies, fried apples and of course, soon to be apple wine.

Yes that is right. I'm in the process of making my own wine. By Christmas time I should be bottling some homemade Strawser apple wine. I'm very excited to go through the whole process, though from the sound of it, it's going to be a lot of sitting around and watching the wine work during the middle!

I'll be sharing the whole experience on Instagram as well as Twitter, so follow along with #OperationAppleWine

  1. That sounds really neat! I wish I had a taste for wine, I just could never get into it. However, Kyle loves wine.

  2. Fun! I can't wait to hear how it turns out. We make our own wine too - it's so cool that your family has been doing that for so long! Dan and I tried it for the first time a few years ago, and we are hooked - we even made all of the wine for our wedding!

  3. How cool! Apple wine sounds like it would be delicious.
