Holy Christmas Haul

Wednesday, December 23, 2015

Holy Christmas Shopping! Has anybody else gotten into "Christmas shopping" but ended up getting themselves way more than they got for others?! Nope, maybe that's just me. It seemed like everywhere I went this year, that happened. Maybe it's because my mom and  my tastes are so similar, whenever I got something for her, I also got it for myself. Either way, I decided to do a haul video which is now live on YouTube!

Just in case you're like me and want to see a list of all the places I shopped, here it is:
Ulta
Lush
NuMe
Foxy Locks
Dick's Sporting Goods
Bath and Body Works
Best Buy
Have a very safe holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

Moist-n-Chewy Treat Advisory

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Greetings from Bo and Christy. They wanted to me take the time to write a post from them. Can't you see it in their eyes?! Well, actually that's more of a we want our new treats face, but those faces said it all! It's time for another wonderful Chewy.com treat advisory!

We all love to treat our pets and what better time to do that than with a little holiday spirit! This month Christy and Bo were able to try out Nutro Moist-n-Chewy Bites in the flavor Hickory Smoked BBQ Flavor. They were in love. We had all of our holiday guests feeding these treats to them!

These treats were the real deal too! As soon as I opened the bag I smelled the hickory flavor! And moist, they are super moist. Christy, the most picky dog I've ever known, loves these. She will stand there and beg for more!

I always feel good about giving my dogs treats from Chewy because I know they are quality treats that are reasonably priced plus they are shipped right to your door! So if you are looking for a healthy treat that will leave your dogs licking their chops and begging for more, I would definitely try the Nutro Moist-n-Chewy line!

**I received these treats from Chewy.com in exchange for my honest review.

My Love Song

Friday, December 11, 2015

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Have you ever listened to a song and felt like it touched you? I haven’t had that happen in a while, but I did the other night. I was sitting at work just listening to some music to pass the time while I did some paperwork and it just hit me. Baby Be My Love Song… be my all night long… Yeah, pardon my little breakout into song and dance there. That was the song that got me thinking.

It has been quite some time that I even felt worthy of a love song, but something has changed inside of me. I decided that I was too good, too young and too pretty to feel like I couldn’t have my own version of a love song. One day I woke up and just decided that. So I started living that way.

I started trying to put effort into myself and go out more. I started trying to be the person I want to be. And it has started to work. Somebody special has walked into my life and I feel so lucky. Of course I don’t want to jinx it by talking about him, but all in due time my friends.

What I will say is that he is making me happy, very happy. And I think I am making him very happy as well. I never knew what happiness really was until now. I honestly believe that one person can walk into your life and change everything. I can't even explain it, but because I am thinking every love song is about me now, I'll give you my top 5 country love songs...

5. My Kind of Crazy - Brantley Gilbert
4. Love Your Love the Most - Eric Church
3. Baby Be My Love Song - Easton Corbin
2. Mean to Me - Brett Eldredge
1. Die a Happy Man - Thomas Rhett

And a bonus for the non-country lovers

Bonus: Marry Me - Train

What love song describes you best?!

A Life Update!

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

I am doing it! Remember in my last post, I said I wanted to write more and another goal was to vlog... well I did it! Granted it is very random and definitely not the best editing but that all comes with time and practice I'm sure.

So basically the goals of this vlog was to just get a feel of vlogging without a script or topic and just update y'all of what is going on in my life right now. I filmed these videos on Thursday and Saturday of last week. Please give me feedback on what you think and thumbs up if you like it and want to see more!

I'm thinking about doing a haul video because I bought a lot of stuff over the past few weeks, so also let me know if that would be something you would like to see!

It's Just Me

Thursday, December 3, 2015

I have been sitting around for days trying to come up with topics to write about. No, scratch that, I have topics, I just don’t know how to eloquently write about them. It’s just me. I am a cause and effect writer. I am a chemist for goodness sakes! In my line of work, there isn’t time for all that fluffy stuff. It makes it very hard for me to turn it off and not be concise and straight to the point.

But here is my pledge to myself and my blog. In this crazy time in my life, I want my blog to be my constant. Things around my little world have gotten so absurdly overwhelming, and I need this to be my  place that I feel safe to go to and get it all out. So I’m going to make it that way. Cause and effect writing and all.

I know this isn’t very descriptive and I’ve probably said something similar about 12 times this past year, but I honestly do want to get back to writing and taking pictures and even vlogging (though I really never got into it, it’s still a goal!) I never realized how much the blog helped me until I stopped writing in it. You never know how good you had something until you feel like you are losing it, am I right? Crickets.. Don’t read into that too much. Besides work, I am very, very happy in life!

And on that note, I am going to leave you to wonder until Monday. See you then friends.

PS if you follow me in Instagram you saw my fun and comfy Black Friday style. I was loving it for sure! Roll Tide!

Pumpkin Puppy Treats

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Recently my life has been all about work and my sweet pups, Christy and Bo! So when I got an email from Chewy to review a product for my pups I was super excited! This is actually the October review, sorry for the lateness of it. Where has October gone?! But that's a different matter all together!

I don't know about y'all but sometimes my Shelties can have some rank breath. So when Chewy gave us the option of awesome October treats, I went with the Natural Balance Dental Chews in PUMPKIN! I mean if I am getting into the fall spirit, they can too!

Bo waiting patiently for me to open the box

They just love getting new treats! Plus if they can pass Christy's smell test, you know it's a true winner. She barely even gave this dental chew a second sniff before grabbing it up and prancing to her favorite chew spot. She started chowing down immediately!

Christy and Bo, as well as myself want to give a huge thanks to Sydney and the Chewy team for sending us awesome treats and toys to try out to share with y'all!

Christy and Bo receive free items from Chewy for an honest review to share with y'all!

Imma Bee Running

Monday, October 26, 2015

I had a pretty good weekend! My mom and I ran the Halloween 5k. But really there is more to the story than just running this 5k. Let me explain.

Since I work in the evening, my mom went to pick up our race packets on Friday evening. While she was over on that side of town, she rode the course we were going to be running, just to get a feel for it. Well, turns out the course was going to be very hilly.

Okay, fast forward to the race. The first few hills weren't that bad, and then we got to the end of the road. Turn left or right? Everybody was going left, but as soon as we turned my mom said "We're going the wrong way" ... um what? So there was also a half marathon going on at the same time as our 5k. When we made the left, we were actually on the path of the half marathon, we should have made the right. But we continued on, along with all of the other 5k-ers.

To make a long story short, with a few hills, we got back onto the original 5k path and rounded out our 5k run by running 4.2 miles. My foot was really hurting, more on that later, but we finished the run in 51 minutes. Not my best pace, but then again, there were hills and my foot was hurting.

I think I looked really cute though!

And that is the story of how I ran the 5k Halloween race that actually was 4.2 miles!

Autumn at Longwood

Monday, October 19, 2015

This weekend felt like a true Fall weekend. And luckily I got to spend it in one of my favorite places! I went back to my Alma Mater, Longwood University. I honestly didn't realize how much I missed being there until I went back.

I met one of my good friends on campus and we stopped for coffee before walking around campus and reminiscing. I had so many good memories there, I wish I could go back.

Recently I've been feeling like I'm being left behind. So many people I know are doing great things with their lives, and I feel like I could be doing so much more. So it felt nice to go back to a place where it was okay to have tons of questions and still not know what's going on with your life.

On our way to the bookstore, we walked by Moe's. Basically the place we had dinner at least once a week. That, of course, sparked the topic of what is the best place to eat? Moe's or Chipotle. Almost all of my Longwood friends agree that Moe's is better. Anybody else have their opinions?!

PS that's a pretty awesome sign in the window. Has anybody else had very nostalgic memories about different places or times in their lives?

It was a pretty awesome day. What did you do awesome this weekend?

Big Job, Little Stress

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Have y'all ever had something stressful going on in your life but you feel and act like it's nothing? That's what I'm feeling now. When I got my big girl job, I was hired on to work in the lab under a contract position. Temp to hire. Basically I stay there as long as needed and will get hired on at the soonest possible time. I was told 6 months to a year and we should be hired on full time.

However, in the 6 months I've been at this company, I've seen many, many nights where there was little to do. I never worried about being too slow because of the nature of my lab. There needs to be at least 2 people in the lab at night to support the manufacturing of our products. Basically I have to be there so the production people can bring in products to be tested before they call it "good" and move on. So I never worried until now. Last week we found out that 4 contractors got let go because of not having enough work.

Everybody has been scrambling trying to show that they are busy and are needed there. I have to say, I was very worried when I got the news, but at the same time, I just knew I would be okay. Last week I trained on a whole new product which I am starting to test this week.

I don't know if I'm not worried because I know I'm a good worker and they will keep me around as long as they can, or if it's because I know they need us there at night, or because when one door closes another (hopefully better) one opens, maybe it's just a combination of all of those things that's keeping me calm. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm so glad that I am not stressing too much over this.

Have y'all ever been in this situation?
How do you deal with stressful things going on in your life?

Cute and Stylish

Monday, October 12, 2015

Oh my goodness y'all, my hair had been driving me crazy for a while. I have thyroid problems which causes your hair to fall out and in my case look like I never took care of it. I was tired of it. So I took the plunge of a shorter more stylish hair cut a few weeks ago.

Besides it looking like I never put a brush to it, I have a bald spot in the back of my head. My hair has just stopped growing there. I'm in pitiful shape here, so I really needed to do something. I looked a few different hair styles and just went to the salon.

I think it looks much better afterwards and I'm now using this shampoo/conditioner routine that is supposed to help support hair regrowth so I won't have that bald spot anymore. How embarrassing!

Jingle Bell Rockers

Monday, September 14, 2015

Lately I've been trying to be focused on my health, well health and dating, but the dating is a little touch and go right now. So I'm taking time to work on me and become the best me I can be. I finished my first month of Insanity: Max 30, which I must say was hard. It was definitely hard, but I feel stronger.

Since I've been exercising more, I've been trying to eat better and eat more protein. I started researching protein powder but gosh I didn't know there were so many! After looking at 10 different proteins and weighing their pros and cons, I decided to try Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Have y'all used that or tried protein powder before? Of course after shopping around for the best protein to have, I had to shop around for the best price on it. I went to the Vitamin Shoppe, and I must say I'm pretty I'm pretty impressed with them. They have very competitive prices and the workers were very friendly.

I ended up leaving the shop with ON Gold Standard Rocky Road protein powder, probiotics and a 7 day cleanse. The cleanse is cleaning me out all right. If you're thinking about starting a cleanse, I would say to start it on Friday or Saturday because you may spend quite a bit of time in the bathroom the first few days. I sure did.

I still wanted to keep up with my running though, so I signed my mom and I up for a few races for the fall/winter. We are doing the Halloween Half marathon that travels to a few different cities, though we chose to only run the 5k since the 8k in July was a little tough. But we still get a medal for running the 5k so I'm super excited. I'm in it for the medal y'all! I mean, that's true, but I do enjoy crossing the finish line and I'm super excited to dress up for this one. Mom is going to be a scarecrow and I'm dressing up as a bumble bee. I've got all the stuff to make a black and yellow tutu. I'm super excited.

I'd also seen so many people running the turkey trot on Thanksgiving last year, I wanted to participate in one. So I signed us up for that. I think we plan to make a half tutu that looks like turkey feathers. Can you tell I'm digging the tutus?

This morning registration opened for a tacky light Christmas run so I signed up the whole family for that. My mom and I plan to run the 5k and my dad and cousin are going to walk. You could choose a team name for this, so we decided on the Jingle Bell Rockers. Once again, I'm going to wear a tutu, some red and green stripped stockings and an elf hat. I'm super excited.

What races are you doing the rest of the year?

Chapter Chats: September

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

I have been such a slacker with my books recently. I have so many sitting around, I just haven't picked them up. Honestly I got in a rut reading my book this month and I need to find one that I can get into and not wan to put it down!

Don't forget to follow our rules! You can see them here!

So as I said earlier, this month was sort of a rut for me. I started reading this book and just couldn't make myself finish it. It seemed so good, and the main character is interesting, I just couldn't do it though.

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
Rating: C

Described as sort of a spy novel, I thought this would be such an interesting read especially because I have a thing for Annie Walker from Covert Affairs. Of course I expected this book to be much more realistic than my favorite female fictional TV character, but still interesting.

While this book was fairly interesting, I thought it took a little too long to get to the good part and by the time it did, I was bored and ready to return the book to the library. I think if I could have stuck it out, it would have been one of those "think about for days" type of novels, I just couldn't do it.

What have y'all been reading? I need to find an awesome book to get me to reading again!

Way Back When

Monday, August 24, 2015

Do you remember a time, possibly way back when... when blogging wasn't all about pinterest perfect pictures and tutorials that make life so easy. I do and I miss way back then.

In today's blogging world where everybody is competing to gain the most followers and have over 1000 page views a day, I just can't keep up. And honestly I don't want to. Yes, I dreamed of having a blog where people knew who I was, but it's not me. I don't have the time right now to put into being that famous blogger that tons of people follow.

I miss back in college, where I blogged two or three times a week and had a steady following of about 5 or 6 girls. I wrote and they read. And I did the same with them. We understood each other. We didn't expect perfect pictures in every post, and heck, pinterest wasn't even a thing back then. We wrote to get our emotions out and it helped us to know others were going through the exact same things.

Yes, I'm going to keep my blog going. I love it and it has become my little space, but I think I'm going to go back towards what I used to do back then. Do what made me happy. The stress of having perfect posts and everything like that has become too much for me. I'd rather go back to having my 5 girls that read my blog because they want to keep up with me than have 1000 people visit and not even know who I am.

So if you choose to continue to follow me through the simpler American Honey, I appreciate you! Thanks for your continued support.

My Insanity Journey

Thursday, August 6, 2015

You know what I'm tired of? Being so down on myself. I'm tired of not having energy and not fitting comfortably into my clothes. So here is my start, or start again if you will.

Because I've been really wanting to try vlogging, I decided to vlog my Insanity journey. You can follow me on my YouTube channel or on here. All vlogs as well as my stats will be posted on my blog.

So here are my stats. I also took before pictures, but I think I'm going to wait a little bit before posting those.

So in July I read:

Cress by Marissa Meyer
Rating: A+

I absolutely loved this book. Yes, it is a young adult book and yes I am 25, but I still loved it.

This is the third book in the Lunar Chronicles series. Each of the books are introduce a new character and that particular characters life is strikingly similar to a fairy tale. If you couldn't tell from the cover, Cress is similar to Rapunzel. Cress (book 1) is similar to Cinderella and Scarlet (book 2) is Little Red Riding Hood.

In a nutshell, these books are the story of unlikely friends who join together to defeat the evil Queen of Lunar. Yes, that is a very simplified version of what the Lunar Chronicles is about, but honestly, these books are an easy read for adults but are still fun and interesting.

If you are looking for a fun, quick book to pick up for a summer read I would definitely suggest this. You might just get back in touch with your inner child.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
Rating: A+

This is a cheer for the underdog type of book. It's romantic and funny with just a hint of sadness thrown in there as well. Definitely a good book to pick up before the fall is upon us again!

Lincoln has started a new job as internet security for a newspaper. He has to read emails and make sure the employees stay in line. However, he can't stop reading Jennifer and Beths emails to each other, nor does he warn them that they should not be emailing.

Follow Lincoln along as he reads the hilarious emails sent between the two friends and struggles with the moral issues of reading others emails... all while falling in love and having never laid eyes of the email sender.

Now I want to read what you've enjoyed over the past month! Link up with us below!

To-Do List Tuesday

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

I have been quite the slacker this week. I had planned posts but I just didn't do them. My grandmother came down to visit and I never feel right playing on the computer when she is here. Let's hope for a better blog schedule for August, shall we?!

Last week:

1. Get at least 13,000 steps each day - I almost made this. I was lacking 2 days of getting 13000 steps each day. But I did get over 95000 steps this week.
2. Make homemade shower cleaner - I made this and used it. I think it worked pretty well. It definitely makes the shower smell better.
3. Clean out my purse - Epic fail. My purse is still full of receipts and other non-needed items.
4. Film a vlog for this week - I filmed my Insanity vlog yesterday and that should go live Thursday.
5. Buy limeade ingredients - I bought the ingredients, I just didn't get around to making the limeade and posting the recipe. I promise I will do that soon!

This week I want to:

1. Drink 50 oz of water each day
2. Edit my vlog film
3. Make limeade and schedule recipe post

That's it. This is a short to-do list week because well frankly I can't think of many things I want to do, at least not right now.

Did you get all of your list complete last week?
What are you trying to get done this week?

To-Do List Tuesday

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

This first week was, well, let's just say I'm not used to having a list of things I want to do over the week! Hopefully this coming week will be many more green items crossed off!

Last week check in:

1. Make homemade bathroom cleaner -  I forgot to get some Dawn, so this will be on my list for this coming week!
2. Unpack my bags from vacation - Finally my floor isn't cluttered with bags!
3. Check out gyms in the area - I visited Gold's Gym as well as a local gym. I'm not so sure about Golds, which kind of sucks, but hopefully I'll get a membership soon!
4. Drink at least 2 water bottles (40 oz) per day - I missed Saturday for drinking 40 oz, but overall I'm pretty happy.
5. Renew library books (if possible); return books (if unable to renew) - I finished the book I was currently reading and returned that yesterday and renewed the next book in my list. Be sure to look out for my reviews on these books coming the first week of August!

So on this week's To-Do List:

1. Get at least 13,000 steps each day
2. Make homemade shower cleaner
3. Clean out my purse
4. Film a vlog for this week
5. Buy limeade ingredients

This week is pretty simple and hopefully I will have all greens!

What do you need to do this week?

Sunny, Sunflower Wednesday

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Work has been getting a little crazy lately. Learning new things and having to pull some extra hours, but I wanted to leave you with this, which I also got from work! Sunflowers have always fascinated me!

Do you think anybody would notice if I cut one to take home?!

To-Do List Tuesday

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

There used to be this link up called 5 for Five. You created 5 goals for yourself to complete over the week and the following week you came back to tell how you did and make 5 more. I loved this link up because it actually made me do things and kept me accountable. Unfortunately I don't think either of the hosts are blogging anymore, so I wanted to create my own version of their wonderful idea.

If y'all would like to have this as a link up or would like to co-host with me please let me know!

So here are my things I want to complete this week, we'll see how this goes!

1. Make homemade bathroom cleaner
2. Unpack my bags from vacation
3. Check out gyms in the area
4. Drink at least 2 water bottles (40 oz) per day
5. Renew library books (if possible); return books (if unable to renew)

Until next Tuesday..

Perfect Earrings by Anjolee

Monday, July 20, 2015

As y'all know, I'm currently on the market for a new beau. This can be a hard task to find a guy to meet all of my standards, but recently I have been seeing this guy that does! And of course I want to make sure I'm at my best for him as well!

So beau and I went out on our second date a few weeks ago. Of course I stressed out about what to wear. It has to be work appropriate but also cute enough for a date. Finally I figured out what I was going to wear and how I would do my hair, but then I also needed cute jewelry to go along with it. Luckily I had just received earrings from Anjolee! They were the perfect addition to my outfit as a whole.

These earrings are absolutely beautiful and can be dressed up or worn more casually, like my date with beau! I just love the way the light captures the unique design and makes them sparkle.

As for the date, it went really well. We went to the super cute up and coming bar. When you go into the restaurant it's a quaint little bookstore. You have to know the password and when you stay it, they open up a secret door in the bookshelf. The bar is prohibition themed. Super cute and a great date spot. We talked and laughed and just had a great time! We have a lunch date planned for this week and another "real" date for this coming weekend!

Anyway, if you love jewelry like me, then I would recommend checking out Anjolee. The earrings seem to be well made and they are such a beautiful design. But Anjolee has more than just earrings! They sell engagement rings, anniversary bands as well as necklaces and bracelets! You can definitely check out their other stuff such as the diamond tennis bracelets. While I can't speak for the unique design of the bracelets, I know my earrings were beautiful and I'm sure they put the same quality of work into all of their jewelry pieces.

However I would recommend placing your order in ample time as their jewelry is hand crafted and it took about a month to get my earrings in. Overall, I give Anjolee two thumbs up for the jewelry lover in your life or even yourself!

I was gifted my stud earrings from Anjolee in exchange for my honest opinion.
