In honor of my March fitness month, I decided to share a few of my favorite health and fitness apps with y'all. Personally these apps help keep me on track! I can easily access them on my phone or iPod and take them with me anywhere! If you are the type of person that needs a little extra boost to keep up with your health and fitness goals, I would definitely check them out!
This is my all time best friend of fitness apps. Food intake is the biggest struggle towards success for me. For this app, you set your crucial information (current weight, goal weight, gender, age, activity level ect) to get started. The app will then take all of your information and set a caloric goal for you. Each day you can input your food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks while trying to stay under your calorie goal.
Within this app you can also track your weight loss progress. Connect with your friends to make it a little more challenging and get some extra encouragement!
2. FitBit or Google Fit
These are actually two different apps, but they basically do the same thing... track your steps! Experts have said that getting 10,000 steps a day will help you to maintain and lose a little bit of weight. It is also the easiest exercise you can do for your body. So I personally use my Fitbit device with the Fitbit app to track my steps, but if you don't have a Fitbit you can track your steps with Google Fit. The only downside is you have to keep your phone on you at all times, if not you can manually input your steps.
3. Nike Running
I've used this app since I was a sophomore in college, but it has really gotten a workout recently with the 10k training. It will track your run and/or walks. You can use the Nike devise to put in your shoe or the GPS in your phone. Either way you decide to use it, it will track your pace, time, and distance. If you use the GPS it will also track the route you travel.
Nike makes running fun by letting you start goals and compete with friends. They also have different levels you achieve when you've hit a certain mileage. I'm currently in the blue level meaning I've logged over 621 miles with Nike+ Running.
4. Nike Training Club
I'm very new to this app, but I can already tell I'm going to like it. You start off by choosing what type of workout you want to do, then choose the actual workout. It shows the amount of time it takes so you know exactly how much time to dedicate to working out.
I'm also looking for an awesome yoga app! I would love to get into more yoga, so if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments!
