Suzy Q Takeover!

Monday, March 9, 2015

Good Monday morning y'all! It is going to be a fabulous day, I can just feel it. And you want to know why? Well today is my first official Monday at my new job (no Monday blues here!) and my best friend Suzanne is taking over the blog for me and also promoting our craft shop, American Honey Crafts!

So without further ado, I present Suzanne!

Tell us a little about yourself!
Well, I was born and raised in the suburbs of Richmond. My boyfriend, Josh, and I live together in our house with our adorable mischievous English bulldog named Tank.

What do you do/go to school for?
I went to school in upstate New York and received my BFA degree with a concentration in ceramics, and I am currently going to school and I am expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Mechanical Engineering degree. I am working in the test lab at Hamilton Beach Brands Inc.

What do you like to do outside of work/school?
I like to do crafts, obviously. I also enjoy fishing, shooting guns, cooking and canning. One of my favorite things to do is to relax and just hang out and have fun with Josh, Tank, my friends, and family.

How did you meet Ashley?
Josh and I thought it would be fun to start inviting our friend over to have dinner and play game one night during the week, and one of my best friends came back to the Richmond area for several months invited Ashley to one of the game nights. Ashley and my friend went to college together and became friends there. Ashley continued to come to the game night and she asked me if I wanted to start making candles with her and after that we expanded to other crafts and instantly bonded.

What do you think about being the co-owner of American Honey Crafts?
I am really excited and thankful that Ashley wanted me to be the co-owner of American Honey. I am still very busy with school right now so we are only making a few different crafts right now, but I am really excited to see where things go in the future.

What are your hopes/expectations for American Honey Crafts?
I hope American Honey Crafts blossoms into a successful side business. After I graduate I hope Ashley and me will be able to continue to make different crafts and make a profit doing something we both love.

Anything else you want to share?
If you have any questions for me feel free to leave them in the comments and I will answer them!

  1. Upstate NY... ceramics? Sounds like SUNY New Paltz or Alfred?! (Had to guess -- I'm a bit homesick for NY right now!) Anyway, can't wait to see what you guys create!

  2. I wish I was more of a crafty person, maybe some day. :)

  3. Aw, it was so fun to meet your friend! She sounds like a keeper and I can't wait to see what crafts you create for your shop!

  4. Aw, yes! It's really fun to just sit down and make something.
