101 in 1001 Update

Monday, June 29, 2015

Remember back at the beginning of the year when I said I was breaking my New Year resolutions into all 12 months?! Yeah, well that still didn't go well... I just finished my April resolution of my 101 in 1001 list. Maybe I can double up on some months and still make it work.

So since I just finished my list I wanted to give y'all an update. I actually officially started my 1001 days weeks ago, but that's okay. I should have made one of my goals to be to actually come up with 101 things I want to do!

So first major thing on my list that I crossed off what #8.

8. Visit a new state

Eventually I want to visit all 50 states, so I'm glad I'm crossing them off slowly but surely. This time I went to Kansas. (Last time I went to Mississippi) This is a good one to start off with because my trip to Kansas actually helped me cross quite a few things off my list like...

9. Go to a zoo

We took a trip to the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, KS. We had an excellent time there. We got to see a lot of cool animals and their habitats. For example I learned more about the male peacocks mating call and their acutal mating than I really wanted to. Watching two peacocks have sex. Check. Been there, saw way too much!

79. Go bar hopping

Forgive me for going out of order. It will make sense in a "linear story" kind of way. I wanted to go bar hopping because my college town had exactly 1 bar. Yes, O-N-E. So we had nowhere to "hop" in college. However thanks to K-State, I got my fill of bar hopping and my inspiration to cross two more things off my list.

78. Hug a random person

This seemed a lot more normal while we were in the bar talking over things on my list. However, I went with it and got my random hug. Random, I know.

80. Meet a cowboy

So being out in Kansas, I figured I might meet a few cowboys. But I really wanted to meet one, not just have random bar talk that doesn't mean anything. So my friends just happened to be friends with a true Texas cowboy!

25. Learn to two-step

Said cowboy from #80 thought it was funny that I wanted to learn to two-step. Apparently everybody just knew how to. So he proceeded to teach me. PS Kansas two-step is different than Texas two-step. Also there is a 1/2 two-step! So much to remember!

So basically that has pretty much been the extent of me crossing things of my 101 list. Thanks a lot Kansas! You did me well.
