To-Do List Tuesday

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

This first week was, well, let's just say I'm not used to having a list of things I want to do over the week! Hopefully this coming week will be many more green items crossed off!

Last week check in:

1. Make homemade bathroom cleaner -  I forgot to get some Dawn, so this will be on my list for this coming week!
2. Unpack my bags from vacation - Finally my floor isn't cluttered with bags!
3. Check out gyms in the area - I visited Gold's Gym as well as a local gym. I'm not so sure about Golds, which kind of sucks, but hopefully I'll get a membership soon!
4. Drink at least 2 water bottles (40 oz) per day - I missed Saturday for drinking 40 oz, but overall I'm pretty happy.
5. Renew library books (if possible); return books (if unable to renew) - I finished the book I was currently reading and returned that yesterday and renewed the next book in my list. Be sure to look out for my reviews on these books coming the first week of August!

So on this week's To-Do List:

1. Get at least 13,000 steps each day
2. Make homemade shower cleaner
3. Clean out my purse
4. Film a vlog for this week
5. Buy limeade ingredients

This week is pretty simple and hopefully I will have all greens!

What do you need to do this week?

Sunny, Sunflower Wednesday

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Work has been getting a little crazy lately. Learning new things and having to pull some extra hours, but I wanted to leave you with this, which I also got from work! Sunflowers have always fascinated me!

Do you think anybody would notice if I cut one to take home?!

To-Do List Tuesday

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

There used to be this link up called 5 for Five. You created 5 goals for yourself to complete over the week and the following week you came back to tell how you did and make 5 more. I loved this link up because it actually made me do things and kept me accountable. Unfortunately I don't think either of the hosts are blogging anymore, so I wanted to create my own version of their wonderful idea.

If y'all would like to have this as a link up or would like to co-host with me please let me know!

So here are my things I want to complete this week, we'll see how this goes!

1. Make homemade bathroom cleaner
2. Unpack my bags from vacation
3. Check out gyms in the area
4. Drink at least 2 water bottles (40 oz) per day
5. Renew library books (if possible); return books (if unable to renew)

Until next Tuesday..

Perfect Earrings by Anjolee

Monday, July 20, 2015

As y'all know, I'm currently on the market for a new beau. This can be a hard task to find a guy to meet all of my standards, but recently I have been seeing this guy that does! And of course I want to make sure I'm at my best for him as well!

So beau and I went out on our second date a few weeks ago. Of course I stressed out about what to wear. It has to be work appropriate but also cute enough for a date. Finally I figured out what I was going to wear and how I would do my hair, but then I also needed cute jewelry to go along with it. Luckily I had just received earrings from Anjolee! They were the perfect addition to my outfit as a whole.

These earrings are absolutely beautiful and can be dressed up or worn more casually, like my date with beau! I just love the way the light captures the unique design and makes them sparkle.

As for the date, it went really well. We went to the super cute up and coming bar. When you go into the restaurant it's a quaint little bookstore. You have to know the password and when you stay it, they open up a secret door in the bookshelf. The bar is prohibition themed. Super cute and a great date spot. We talked and laughed and just had a great time! We have a lunch date planned for this week and another "real" date for this coming weekend!

Anyway, if you love jewelry like me, then I would recommend checking out Anjolee. The earrings seem to be well made and they are such a beautiful design. But Anjolee has more than just earrings! They sell engagement rings, anniversary bands as well as necklaces and bracelets! You can definitely check out their other stuff such as the diamond tennis bracelets. While I can't speak for the unique design of the bracelets, I know my earrings were beautiful and I'm sure they put the same quality of work into all of their jewelry pieces.

However I would recommend placing your order in ample time as their jewelry is hand crafted and it took about a month to get my earrings in. Overall, I give Anjolee two thumbs up for the jewelry lover in your life or even yourself!

I was gifted my stud earrings from Anjolee in exchange for my honest opinion.

No Soda Challenge

Saturday, July 18, 2015

I'm not one of those people who drinks a soda every. single. day. I'm not addicted by any means. Okay, so maybe I had them more frequently than I thought, but 1 or 2 a week is certainly not addicted.

The worst thing about me drinking Coke is that I will get a craving for one every now and again. But even then, my cravings have never been bad. I would get a craving, crack open a Coke and be completely fine for another week or so.

One of my goals in my 101 in 1001 challenge was to not drink soda for a month. I have been working towards completing that over the past 30 days and I finally accomplished it yesterday! But let me tell you, in the middle it got a little tough.

My aunt bought me a "Share a Coke with Ashley" Coke bottle that has been staring at me for over 2 weeks now! It has been tempting to put it in the fridge and drink it, but I resisted.

Plus to top it off, as if my mid-month cravings weren't enough, I was supposed to finish my challenge in June. However, I found out my favorite limeade has Sierra Mist in it. Bummer. I had to start all over again!

Speaking of limeade though I found a wonderful recipe to make limeade soda free. Come back at the end of the month when I will be sharing my limeade post!

So anyway, now that I have completed a whole month without Coke, I don't think I feel much different. Sure I'll still have a Coke when I get a craving, or Cheerwine when I find it, but I don't think I'll drink one every week just because like I used to.

Well, there you have it. Being healthier and checking thins off my 101 list! Next up vegetarian for a week?!

Have you completed a no-soda challenge?
How often do you drink sodas?

Wordless Wednesday - 25 years!

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

I'm celebrating this wordless Wednesday with my own special celebration. A quarter of a century for me! Like mostly all birthday's I'm excited but in reality it is just another day. Here's to many many more birthdays!

I will be celebrating with my friend and family by having dinner and cake. So I am very excited!

Suck It Up & Thank the Lord

Monday, July 13, 2015

July is a very big month for me. So many things happen this month. For one thing, this year marks my existence on Earth for a quarter of a century! Also I created this here blog in July!

But four years ago, I was having a very terrible time with my health. Inexplicably I couldn't quit gaining weight. To combat my excessive weight gain I began running 15 miles a week. Except I couldn't run for very long. After about a week of attempting to run 5 miles a day, my legs began to ache so bad I could hardly walk. Eventually this feeling of having a knife shoved in my leg became a daily experience. July 12 of 2011 I had a fasciotomy on my right leg. Basically they cut the tissue that surrounds the muscle. Surgery 3 days before my 21st birthday.

"Hold up! I need surgery and you want to do it 3 days before my 21st birthday?!"

Okay, so that's pretty much what I said. That's also my scars about a month after the surgery. Sorry if some of y'all are squeamish! Anyway, the doctors told me I wouldn't be able to drink because of the pain killers. But July 15th I made my wonderful debut 21 year old appearance at Outback where I had many margaritas and a Walla-Be-Darn!

I was also told that I would be on crutches for a month. Really I was worried about how I would move into my college apartment on crutches more than anything... well that and driving. The driving was very important.

Luckily I was driving within a week and walking (or more like hobbling) on my own two feet after 3 days.

I guess the whole point of this story is that there will always be some bad at some point in your life. But you just have to make up your mind to over come it and make the most of it. Admittedly that can be very hard, like thinking you won't have a real 21st birthday kind of hard. But you suck it up and thank the Lord that you're still alive.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm so happy and thankful that I have (almost) spent 25 years on this beautiful planet and try to appreciate every single thing (even the bad - surgery - things) that is thrown at me.

Summer Reading List 2015

Friday, July 10, 2015

What?! Two book posts in a row?! I must be crazy. Okay so I'm not crazy I have just really gotten into reading lately. When I'm bored I read, and when I read I like to post about it!

So I figured I would share with y'all my summer reading list! I picked a few extra books other than my Summer Swap books to fully round out my reading list.

Also on my reading list and not pictured because it's an audio book is Cress by Marissa Meyer.

So we've got some romance, a little more romance, some mystery, a little girl time and some action/adventure. Sounds like the perfect list to let your mind wander this summer if you ask me!

What are y'all reading this summer? Link up for reviews in our July Chapter Chats.

Chapter Chats Book Club

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

I'm so excited to be starting this new book club with Chelsie from Life With Rosie. Since I got into reading I've been wanting to share my passion of books with everybody and after joining a few book clubs that didn't make it very long, I decided I should just go ahead and start my own!

Chelsie and I actually started the book club off with the Summer Reads Book Swap which was a huge success. We are planning to do another book swap within a few months so if you are interested please send me an email so we can notify you when the sign ups begin again!

So let's get into Chapter Chats shall we?! This is a pretty low key book club. We just want to see what you've been reading, hear what you think about them and hopefully find our next favorite book! So we've come up with a few rules just to make sure we're all on the same page.

1. Follow the hosts (Chelsie and Ashley)
2. Grab the button to post on your blog (button below)
3. Link up your review or reading round up
4. Link up to your actual post and not your blog home page
5. Visit around and comment on a few blogs! You might find your next favorite book!

So as for the books I've read recently...

I got some awesome books in the Summer Reads Book Swap and I've finished one and started the other. So come back next month for the rest of my swap book reviews.

Unfortuately I've only read one books this month. I am in the middle of two others (thanks library for having 3 books become available all at the same time) but those will be saved for next month. The book I read for this month is...

The Bungalow by Sarah Jio
Rating: A-

Honestly a perfect summer/beach read. It took me no time to get hooked on the book and I flew through those pages in no time. The story takes you back in time and really puts a wanderlust in you. Set in the Pacific during the war, it honestly made me feel like I needed to be doing more with my life, but don't worry it gets better! As I read on, I could easily put myself in Anne's shoes. Pulled between this safe person who she knows she will have a good life with and the incredible man that's right in front of her and she has such strong, passionate feelings for. If only real life could happen like that now! If you enjoy a little romance, some mystery and can imagine yourself lazily laying in a small little bungalow listening to the waves crash on the beach then this book is for you!

You can read the full description of the book at Goodreads. Image is also from Goodreads.

So now it's your turn! Grab the button and link up with us! I can't wait to see what y'all have been reading!

Independence Day 8k

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Helloooo! I took a little #IndependenceDayVacay15 away from the blog. Yes, that was the hastag I used for this weekend, although I only posted a whopping 4 pictures over the weekend. Somehow beach bumming and getting sunburned took precedence over posting pictures. Who would have guessed.

So one exciting thing I did over the weekend was my Independence Day 8k! I was so excited about this race. Well I'm still pretty excited, it's just over now. I got my bib and my picture so that's another one for the [scrap]books!

I knew I wasn't going to do amazing with this race. The humidity had been giving me some trouble. So I did my best and pushed through. My goal was to finish in 60 minutes. Guess what?! I beat my goal. I finished in 57:11. Although I wish I would have pushed a little harder, I'm very happy with my time.

Cute faces right?!

But really, I'm proud of myself but I'm very proud of my mom. That's her with me in the picture and I think she could have done better than me, but she wasn't going to leave me. I'm so happy that we have gotten into running together.

As always I'm looking for my next race to run. I'm keeping my eye out for the Great Pumpkin Run 5k on Halloween and the Central VA Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving to open up. I'm excited about both of them!
