Joining the Church Choir!

Thursday, April 30, 2015

I have only been to 3 major concerts in my lifetime. Lynyrd Skynyrd when I was a freshman in high school, Kip Moore and Brantly Gilberty with Em in 2013 and the most recent and arguably the best was Eric Church last Friday!

As y'all may know, I've been waiting for this concert for months! I was so excited to be able to get tickets and go. So when the big day finally came I couldn't wait. Unfortunately, I was so tired. I had worked 3-11pm Thursday evening, went home and went to bed to get up at 6am to be at work so I could work the morning shift so I didn't have to miss any time. After the 2 hour drive down to Hampton, I was just so ready to be at the concert already.

Eric was amazing! It was so great just to feel the energy in the coliseum. His opening song was The Outsiders and proceeded to play songs from all of his albums. I loved the concert. So I'll just show some of my pictures. The quality wasn't great because we were so far in the back, but at least they are something to remember the night by.

I think my favorite was Springsteen. I love that song and him singing it live was amazing. It's where a memory and a melody meet.

What's Up Wednesday: The Final

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

It's a sad day in my little blog world! Keep reading to find out more!

Today Katie, Shannon and I are welcoming one of my personal long time blogging friends to be our guest host. It's Amanda from Somewhere Over the Camo! I love her and am sure she would love if you stopped by to check her out!

What I loved about this past week//

The Eric Church concert!!!! It was amazing. I loved it so much. I'm so glad that I went. I was a little upset that my camera didn't do a good job, but then again I was in the back in the nosebleed section. What did I expect?! At least I got to go, right?!

Hopefully post will be up later this week about the concert!

Singing Creepin'

What I'm looking forward to//

My hometowns 5k race this weekend. It was actually supposed to be back in March, but because of all the ice and snow it got postponed. I've been running 1.5 and 3 miles. I'm running a fairly decent time for both of them in my own opinion. I'll share my time for the race on Monday!

What I'm daydreaming about//

Going out. I want to go out and meet new people. Maybe try to find a country bar and line dance. Oh I miss dancing so much. Yes, please tell me there is a country bar somewhere in the RIC area!!!

What I've been watching//

90210! I'm in the final season with about 10 episodes left! I don't want it to end!!!

What I've been listening to//

Eric Church. Since the concert I can't get enough of him. Oh I've also been loving Neon Lights by Blake Shelton.

What else is new//

This is the sad part from the beginning. Katie, Shannon and I have decided to take a break from hosting What's Up Wednesday. We have all become so busy in our everyday lives that we need a break so we can focus on that, then come back to hosting the linkup! Thank you all so much for participating. I'm so happy to have found so many new and wonderful bloggers! Thanks y'all!!

Now tell me what you've been up to!!

What's Up Wednesday Week 12

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Oh hey! I'm back! It's Wednesday again, and I'm going to try to post again this week because only doing What's Up Wednesday just isn't good blogging practices.

What's Up Wednesday

This week we are having a wonderful gal who shares my name join us as a guest co-host! Ashley from Keeping Up with Ashley and Cody. She is an amazing lady and has the cutest blog! Definitely go check her blog out!

As always, answer the prompts you want to answer, you can answer as many or as few as you would like, grab a button, follow your hosts, and add your link. If you want more information, you can find that here!

What I loved about this past week//

We changed game night to Saturday so I could actually come. I was so happy about that. Remember how last time I said we were making Chinese food? Yeah, well it was such a pretty day we didn't actually do that. We decided that a cookout would be better.

We went and got cookout stuff then came back and rode the 4-wheeler some. By the time that we actually started grilling it was getting dark, so we had cookout by citronella candle light, but it was still fun all the same.

Oh yes, I did ride the 4-wheeler in a dress!

Other than that, you can read more about what's going on in my post from yesterday.

What I'm looking forward to//

ERIC CHURCH!!! I'm going to his concert on Friday! I'm suuuuuppppper excited! If you couldn't tell. I can't wait to come back and share all the exciting details!

What my latest obsession is//

The new Samsung Galaxy S6. I've been looking up the specs and features. I'm so excited to get one. I worked this past weekend so I will have some moolah to pay for it!

Now my hardest decision is going to be what color to get (depending on what colors the store has available). I really like the gold or the blue. What do y'all think?!

What I've been daydreaming about//

Free time. Time to sit down and think about blogging. I honestly don't know where my time goes to. I feel like if I had a prompt list I might be able to write more for the blog, but I just don't know what to write about. Maybe this is my first serious rut. I'm not sure.

What I'm watching//

M*A*S*H-- I love that show. I can't even describe why. I guess the basis of the show is so uplifting to me. They are stuck in this horrible war that they didn't want to go to. But they joke and make the best of it.

What I'm listening to//

Take Me to Church by Hozier. Really I'm surprised I'm not listening to Eric Church, but lately I've been loving Hozier's song. I think I love it so much because of this Russian ballet dancer danced to it. As a former dancer, I love watching people dance.

What I'm craving//

A pedicure. My heels need some TLC. Like seriously. They are so dry and just yuck! If I'm going to start wearing flip flops and cute heels, I need my feet to look good.

What else is new//

I really want to do some fun spring activities. Like fly a kite in the park or go to some festival. I really just want to get out and do things. Has anybody else felt like that?!

Okay, so now that you've heard all about my week, link up with us and tell us about yours.

My Life Lately

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Oh my gosh, y'all! I have been horrible. I sat down at my computer to think about my What's Up Wednesday for tomorrow and realized that I hadn't posted since last Wednesday. That just couldn't be a thing.

Honestly I've been so busy. I don't want to give away everything in my What's Up Wednesday, but I do want to give a bit more of an in-depth what I've been up to.

Saturday I got a text saying that my best friend's dad needed emergency surgery. That was horrible, but the even worse part was that he and his wife were out of town on a weekend getaway. We are really hoping he gets better quickly!

This is the family that I've watched their dogs before, so I went over their house Sunday afternoon to help them out. Which just makes for a very hectic week. They live so much further away from my work than I do, so I spend about an hour going to and from work. Plus getting in the house at midnight is really no fun.

Their cat, Mr. Binks laying on me (I'm really not a cat person)

So that's what I've been doing lately. It's been pretty busy around my parts.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to catch up on everything that's been going on lately.

What's Up Wednesday Week 11

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Hold on a sec. It's seriously Wednesday again. I can't believe it. I feel like I was celebrating Friday. Oh yes, this past week has been a celebrate Friday type of week. At least we're already half way through the current week!

Unfortunately Katie is going through a second case of the Mondays! She is having a little bit of technical difficulties but should be back up and running later on in the day! Don't forget to drop back by and check her out!

This week we are having the lovely Marissa from The McAdam's Adventures join us as a guest host. I'm so thankful that she has been joining us in What's Up Wednesday and can't wait to follow her in more adventures. I hope y'all will follow along as well.

As always, answer the prompts you want to answer, you can answer as many or as few as you would like, grab a button, follow your hosts, and add your link. If you want more information, you can find that here!

What I loved about this past week//

I got to visit with a college friend. I literally haven't seen her in 3 years! How crazy is that. We have kept our friendship alive through writing letters. Yep, paper, pens and stamps. It's honestly worked so well for us. Anyway this weekend we went to the Cheesecake Factory and shopping a bit up in Richmond. I loved the Cheesecake factory. So good.

She made fun of me for wanting to get a picture with the building in the background. I told her we had to document my first trip! But we did get a better picture where the sun wasn't in our face so much...

Much better right?! It was a lot of fun. We went to Sephora and Victoria Secret for a little shopping. Ah. So nice.

I also went out shooting this weekend. I decided on the handgun that I want, so who knows when I'll actually go purchase it. I think I got some sun too while I was sitting out there shooting. A win, win if you ask me!

What I'm looking forward to//

Game night! Suzanne and I are making a Chinese meal for game night. I'm super excited. I'm in charge of the chow mein. So I hope it turns out well!

What I've been daydreaming about//

Having more time. I feel like I just don't have enough time in the day to do things. I recently got moved to second shift which is 2:30 to 11pm. It's nice because I can do things in the morning, but still, I miss hanging out with my friends. And I did go for a 3 mile run yesterday morning. But I just don't know where all my times goes.

What I'm listening to//

I may or may not have listened to From This Valley by The Civil Wars on repeat because I saw Katie was listening to them on Spotify. So basically I had that song stuck in my head for over 9 hours yesterday!

What I'm doing this weekend//

WORK! Yay for overtime! I am getting my new phone soon so that money will come in handy. Also game night. See What I'm looking forward to. I'm just super excited.

What else is new//

My mom and I are going to try to make our dogs some treats. We are trying to get Christy and Bo away from the processed dog treats and go with natural or homemade. I'll have to let y'all know how that goes.

So what have y'all been up to?

Grab a button and link up with us!

Changing

Monday, April 13, 2015

Have y'all ever noticed when change starts happening it seems like it's just the snowball effect? It just like new things start happening and just don't stop? No? Maybe that's just me. But that's how I feel lately.

I feel like a lot of things have been changing in my life. Some of the things are amazing, and some of them not so much. But I feel like with change, you have to take the good with the bad. And so I want to just have some real talk today.... good stuff style. I know I'll have another real talk but right now I just want to hold off on throwing everything out there.

I think it all started with my new job. And honestly, I'm so glad I got this job and started this snowball effect. I am in love with my job. I have the best boss in the world and work with truly awesome people.

So after the new job, I got the hugest itch to buy my new car that I had been wanting for many, many months. So I went out and got my brand new 2015 Chevy Cruze. Which I absolutely love, by the way. It's my baby. I have already washed it once and vacuumed it twice. I'm pretty much obsessed with it. ....And I have to share my "night of buying a new car" selfie.

(Sorry about the horrible quality, I was so excited I didn't care)

Now, not only do I have my new job, but I'm also being changed from first shift (7 am to 3:30 pm) to second shift (2:30 pm to 11 pm). It's going to be a huge adjustment and a little less of a social life, but I'm trying to see the positives. I can use this time for some much needed personal time/growth.

And because I have had all this change happening, I feel like my blog hasn't gotten as much attention. I remember a time when I was constantly thinking about my blog and trying to gain more followers and do things to it and whatever. But I honestly can't say that I would go back to that. I love having a more of a life and things to do.

However, with my newly found career and life, I don't always have time to post 5 days a week. And sometimes when I come in from work I don't feel like getting on the computer to reply to comments. But I don't want y'all to think that because it takes me a few days to reply, or read your blogs that I don't care anymore. I still care about all of my blogging friends and hope that y'all will bare with me while I'm going through this time when things are greatly changing in my life.

I love y'all and hope you will continue reading!

The Golden Vlog: Beauty Edition

Thursday, April 9, 2015

Fact 1: I didn't think about this months questions before I started filming.
Fact 2: I may ramble...more than I would have liked..
Fact 3: At least you get to see what I'm like in real life.
Fact 4: I enjoy filming this and I hope you like watching it!

Okay, so come back next month. Maybe I'll be a little more put together for the actual film.

What's Up Wednesday: Week 10

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Happy Wednesday y'all! We are half way through the work week. My week has been flying by. Literally flying. Before I know it, it will be the weekend again!

As always, answer the prompts you want to answer, you can answer as many or as few as you would like, grab a button, follow your hosts, and add your link. If you want more information, you can find that here!

This week Chandler from Life as a Larsen is joining us as our guest co-host! I am so excited that she has started to join in on our What's Up Wednesday link up! I have loved getting to know her and am excited to have her as a co-host! Thanks for joining us Chandler, and y'all be sure to drop by and give her a shout!

What I loved about this past week//

This past weekend, my family got together for my grandmother's birthday as well as Easter. I didn't realize how big our family was until this gathering. Oh my goodness, with all the little kids and adults, it was like fighting to find a place to eat lunch. But it was so worth it. I love getting to spend time with my family.

Since it was an Easter celebration as well as birthday, all the little kids had an Easter egg hunt. The adults hid a ton of the bubble gum Easter eggs while the kids waited in the house. It was so fun to watch them run around trying to gather up as many little eggs as they could.

Overall, a very good weekend!

What I'm looking forward to//

Is it weird if I say working on the weekend? I mean, that's a loaded statement. Of course I don't want to work on the weekend, but I kind of want that extremely good paycheck with up to 12 hours of overtime! Holla! Extra money towards my car payment!

What my latest obsession is//

Yoga. I have enjoyed doing the #detoxyobody challenge with Beach Yoga girl and Kino Yoga on Instagram. I am a little late as far as the days go, but I'm enjoying trying all the positions and learning that my body isn't as flexible as it once was. I had been looking for something to push myself and strengthen my mind as well as body and I think following these two wonderful ladies will be perfect!

What I'm listening to//

Well, mostly my XM radio while I still have the free trail. But yesterday at work, my coworkers and I were talking about a girl that went missing from Virginia, which lead to the discussion of faking your disappearance... which lead to the fact that after XX number of years you can't be charged with faking your own disappearance/death. So long story short, we started talking about 2PAC and the conspiracy of him really being dead. So I'm listening to some of his music as well.

What I'm doing this weekend//

I have plans to meet a great college friend for lunch/dinner (the plans haven't been solidified yet) at The Cheesecake Factory. I haven't seen her since we graduated college. And the real shocker, even more than we haven't seen each other in 3 years is that I have never been to the Cheesecake Factory. I know, I know.... I'm sure I have no clue what I've been missing.

What's Up Wednesday

H - Two - Ohhh

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Water. It's what we need to survive. Our body is made up of 55-60% water. So pretty much, we need it. But... I haven't been drinking the water I need.

I've always been one of those people who rarely drinks anything at all. I pretty much live in a state of mild dehydration. But recently I've been trying to change that. I know that if I want to have a healthy life, I need to drink my water and stay hydrated.

My co-worker had a water bottle that hold all the water I would need to drink in a day all in one bottle. I should be drinking approximately 75 ounces of water. So I fill this bottle up and drink on it throughout the day and I'm good to go.

And since I'm carrying it around with me everywhere, I decided to jazz it up a bit. I looked up how to layer vinyl and put my name on it. I mean if it's going to be your permanent accessory, you might as well have it looking cute!

My only warning/advice is to stick close to the bathroom. The first day wasn't so bad, but the second day I went to the bathroom no less than 12 times in 1 day. No kidding y'all. I had to go at least twice an hour while I was at work.

Other than that, go forth and drink your water and be healthy. I know I feel like it has improved my health since I've started downing half my weight in water!

Take a Trip

Monday, April 6, 2015

Do you ever get bored while on long trips?! I surely do. I've been on many, many 5+ hour car rides or even worse, a 6 hour train ride. They can get boring really fast. But if you've prepared before your trip, you'll be able to take those 5+ hours in stride. Today I'm blogging over on Chelsie's blog , Life With Rosie, all about my tips to get though your long hours of traveling!

Take a trip over to her blog to check me out and come back tomorrow for some fitness fun!

April 101 in 1001 Goals

Friday, April 3, 2015

This month my goal is to focus on goals. It sounds pretty silly, but that's what I'm doing.

So since the birth of American Honey (and former names), I've been working towards completing a 101 in 1001. Basically, I made 101 goals that I wanted to complete in 1001 days. It's a little better than trying to do everything in one year, it gives you more than one season to try to get that live Christmas tree, or go camping, you know?! Sometimes time just slips away from you.

So April 9th is the end date of my current 101 in 1001 and I have a ton of things I didn't complete. Some of them I'm absolutely positive won't happen and a few of them I wish I had just a little more time to complete them. So, this month I'm slacking on actually working towards goals and making my goal to create new goals for my 101 in 1001.

Obviously my favorite goal I've recently completed is buy a car. But I've also done a few other cool ones such as buy a lottery ticket and go to a concert. There are some others I would like to put on my new list such as play tennis, read 25 books in a year and better my handwriting.

So later in the month/next month I will post my new 101 in 1001 list so y'all can follow along!

ALSO...

A look back on March's goals. I completed my 10k in under 80 minutes! I didn't really do the scale thing, but I had a very good month. I'll also be continuing to post fitness posts because, well... it's what I do and what I'm about!

Are you still sticking with your New Years Resolutions?
Do you re-evaluate your goals mid-year?

What's Up Wednesday: Week 9

Wednesday, April 1, 2015

Happy first day of April! I have been having a super exciting week thus far! I couldn't wait to share everything with y'all this week. My life has just gotten so exciting recently. Oh and I've actually posted 3 times in a row. Imagine that! I'll try to keep that more regular, but no promises.

As always, answer the prompts you want to answer, you can answer as many or as few as you would like, grab a button, follow your hosts, and add your link. If you want more information, you can find that here!

What I loved about this past week//

Running my first 10k. I was a little nervous about the weather earlier in the week. When I looked at the forecast on Tuesday they predicted rain and possibly snow. But luckily there was no precipitation but it was super cold. I did an great job on the race and finished in 79:56! I talked about details of the race earlier this week!

What I'm looking forward to//

My grandmothers birthday party/Easter celebration this weekend. Getting together with my family is one of my favorite moments and I can't wait to celebrate these wonderful holidays as well as a few other accomplishments (like my new job and my latest obsession!)

What's my latest obsession//

My brand new 2015 Chevy Cruze! I bought it straight off the lot on Monday! I am completely obsessed with it. It is the first car that has been in my name. I'm so excited.

It has everything I wanted, and even some that I didn't expect that I wanted. But honestly, the thing that sold me on this car is the sunroof. I saw it and I was sold. It also has a back-up camera, remote start, mirror defrost (for those stupid snowy/icy winter days), and automatic everything!

It's it super cute?! Hard to not be obsessed with it.

What I'm listening to//

I've been splitting my listening time between my new XM radio and figuring out how to favorite songs and the 3rd Lunar Chronicles book, Cress. Ah, I can also plug my iPod in and listen to my audio book on the way to work. I'm just so in love with that car.

What I'm craving//

A nice refreshing trip to the beach. Even though I had a super exciting week, I need some time to relax, reflect, and gather myself up. Everybody should get a little me time at their favorite landscape!

Now link up your post so I can see all the exciting things going on in your lives!
